The state of Eagan's finances is excellent. The City has achieved the highest possible credit rating of Triple-A from the two largest ratings agencies. Only about 1% of cities in the U.S. have the top rating from both Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s.
The Finance Department has four major roles:
- Assisting the City Council in developing the budget and financial plans. To provide high-quality, cost-effective services to our residents and businesses.
- Providing monthly and annual financial reports to assist staff and the City Council in monitoring budgeted expenditures.
- Safeguarding the City’s financial assets through safe and prudent investing and accurate accounting.
- Billing residents and businesses for water, sewer, storm drainage, and street lighting utilities.
