General Information

Celebrate Eagan's natural beauty during Earth Month with a monthlong lineup of events highlighting our city's nearly 1,200 lakes and 60 parks. Get involved with tree planting, trash cleanups, family-friendly activities, and educational sessions. This is your chance to enjoy Eagan's parks and green spaces while positively impacting the environment. There's something for everyone this Earth Month. Connect with nature and celebrate our community!

Bingo wheel and cards

Climate Action Bingo

A community climate action challenge. Choose actions that work for you (solo or with a group). Complete five in a row and submit your card online or in person.

Residents clean up a pond

Green Up Eagan

A community trash cleanup. Choose your own time and location. Pick up maps and tools from the City. Participate as often as you’d like!

How to Help Green Up Eagan

  1. View the map and select your clean-up location
    • Decide which park to clean up and where you’d like to pick up supplies (grabbers, gloves, and bags).
    • Use this map for pickup and drop-off locations.
  2. Pick up your supplies
    • Check out your supplies during business hours:
    • Eagan City Hall, Apr. 1–30, M–F, 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m.
    • Eagan Central Maintenance, Apr. 1–30, M–F, 7 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
    • Eagan Community Center, Apr. 6–30, M–F, 6 a.m.–9 p.m., Sat.–Sun. 7 a.m.–8 p.m.
  3. Get to work
    • Collect trash into the provided bags.
    • Securely tie off the bags once they are full.
    • Leave your filled bags at the clean-up site. City staff will pick them up for proper disposal.
  4. Return your supplies and log your volunteer hours
    • Return your clean-up gear.
    • Scan the code to log your hours and select “Sustainability” as the event type.
    • Log volunteer hours using this form.

This event offers an afternoon of environmental education, community connection, and activities for all ages. The Forestry Division will lead an Arbor Day celebration with a woodland restoration project, and Dakota Valley Recycling will host a garden tool swap.

The Teen Planning Committee is hosting a clothing swap just for teens! Trade your gently used clothing, shoes, and other items for something new–completely free. Take what you need and leave what you don’t. No need to bring items to join. In addition, bring an old t-shirt to learn from Dakota Valley Recycling about how to upcycle it into a tote bag. Old National Bank will also provide reusable tote bags while supplies last.

Landscaping for Clean Water — Natural Shoreline Class

Do you own a shoreline in Dakota County? The Dakota County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) will host three Natural Shoreline Classes in collaboration with the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization (LMRWMO). We will show you how a natural shoreline installed with native plants can protect your shoreline, beautify your property, and provide habitat for pollinators and aquatic animals.
