Council Member Paul Bakken has served as a City Council Member since January 2007 and from January of 1999 until December of 2002. Prior to serving on the City Council, Bakken was a member of the Eagan Advisory Planning Commission.
Mr. Bakken has a Bachelors degree in Political Science and Classics from St. Olaf College, a Masters degree in Public Affairs (specializing in the management of government and non-profit organizations) from the Humphrey Institute, and a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. Bakken has also completed the Integrated Emergency Management Course at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Mr. Bakken serves on the Board of Directors of Dakota Electric Association. Other community involvement has included serving as a Cub Scout Den Leader, coaching Jr. Lego League, and service on the Board of Directors of Legal Assistance in Dakota County and the 5p- Society (Family Support Group for Children With Cri Du Chat Syndrome).
Mr. Bakken and his wife Alison have lived in Eagan since 1993 and have three children.
Council Member Bakken serves on the Public Works, Communications, and Finance Committees of the Council.
