The City of Eagan is developing a Climate Action Plan (CAP) to address changing environmental conditions. The CAP will establish goals and provide a menu of detailed actions to support community-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions and climate resilience. The climate action plan seeks to be a tool supporting the City, businesses, and residents in identifying and implementing actions to increase our resilience and meet sustainability goals. The plan will be created by a multi-stakeholder CAP Team facilitated and supported by the City’s Climate Action Plan consultant, paleBLUEdot.

We already know that eight in 10 Eagan residents surveyed see climate change as a threat. Creating a climate action plan is one tangible step toward addressing that concern. It will outline steps the City and community can take to have a positive effect in the coming months and years.

We know sustainability is a key priority for Eagan residents — that's why the first step in creating this plan is to gather as much community input as possible. The City of Eagan has created a
community survey to collect input from a broad range of community members.  Please take our Climate Action Survey to help us better understand the community’s interests, ideas, and concerns!

You can join the CAP Team and work to co-create the City's plan by exploring, creating, reviewing, refining, and supporting the prioritization of actions to achieve the City's climate goals. The CAP Team will include City staff members, representatives of other public agencies, and consultant team members. The City seeks to also include community members in this collaborative planning team.

The planning team will work together through a series of 7 workshop meetings expected to begin in August 2024 and continue through February 2025. Team members will also be asked to complete tasks between workshop sessions. The total time commitment is estimated to be approximately 6 to 8 hours per month. Please submit your interest to participate on the City's CAP Team.
