The Citizen's Academy is designed to offer citizens insight into modern-day policing through hands-on training conducted by Eagan Police Officers.
The training includes information on department history, a tour of the Police Facility, a K-9 demonstration, a review of typical police calls, DUI demonstration, narcotics presentation, laws of arrest, search and seizure, self-defense and use of force simulations.
The Eagan Police Department's Citizen's Academy runs once a year in the spring and is completed after eight weeks of class. The Academy is held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 — 9:00 p.m. at the Eagan Police Department.

Participants must live or work in Eagan, must be 18 years old, and are subject to a background check. The class is limited to the first 25 applicants who pass a background check.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 Citizen's Academy.
