The last City-owned parcel in the Cedar Grove redevelopment area has been sold, and on March 5, 2019, the City Council gave final approvals to The Preserve of Cedar Grove, a 172-unit apartment community. Both the Preserve and the Fairfield Inn & Suites are expected to begin construction later this year.
The transformation of Cedar Grove has been a 20-year project that has resulted in over 700 new housing units, over $240 million in new property valuation, a new transit station with a skyway connection to Cedar Avenue bus rapid transit, fully integrated pedestrian connections throughout the development, and increased reinvestment in surrounding areas. The Cedar Grove redevelopment project has transformed an area of disinvestment and blight into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly gateway to Eagan that supports the City with jobs, housing opportunities, and increased tax base.
